It might sound a little spooky, but researchers from the University of Cambridge have discovered that serving wine in a large glass makes people drink faster, and thus consume more than they would have done otherwise.

Whether you do it consciously or not, we all judge people by what they drink. Although this may seem unfair, a large scale study of 2,000 people published in 2012 demonstrates that there are clear trends that define – to some extent - red, rose and white wine drinkers.

Scientists have once again been hard at work to prove that government alcohol guidelines are not always correct. This new study, conducted by the universities of Helsinki and Tampere, demonstrates that people who drank a glass or two of wine with dinner were more likely to be healthy and happy.Monitoring the drinking habits of almost 2,600 people between 18 and 69, the study found that 12 per cent of people who had a glass of wine or two with dinner were the most likely to have good physical and mental health, and
